Sarah Gyamera-Amoako is a final year Geological Engineering student at UMaT and the 19th Substantive Council General Secretary. Her journey began at the prestigious Wesley Girls High School in Cape Coast, where she discovered her passion for writing and leadership. Sarah's leadership adventure on campus kicked off in her first year when she contested for the position of General Secretary for the Africa Centre for Entrepreneurship and Youth Empowerment (ACEYE-UMaT Chapter). This experience allowed her to hone her secretarial and communication skills, laying a strong foundation for her future endeavors. Following this, she served as the General Secretary for the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE-UMaT Chapter), where she further developed her public speaking abilities and had the privilege of moderating various programs. A highlight of her tenure was the two-day Mega Conference organized by her administration, where she was honored as the Best GhIE Executive of the Year 2022/2023. In addition to her roles within UMaT, Sarah's passion for being a changemaker is reflected in her involvement with the project Empowered: Shaping Futures, Changing Lives. Through this initiative, she engages in outreach programs to educate youth on the importance of reading, career guidance, teenage pregnancy, and mental health awareness. This work aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 and 4, as she strives to contribute to a better world for all. With a clear vision to serve the larger student body, Sarah contested for the role of Local NUGS Secretary in her third year, winning by a significant margin. This position not only prepared her for the SRC General Secretary role but also fueled her commitment to making a meaningful impact on campus. Her leadership journey has been marked by resilience and discipline. The desire to grow and empower others has driven Sarah through the challenges she faced along the way. She takes pride in mentoring several young women who are now excelling as secretaries in their respective departments. As the UMaT SRC General Secretary, Sarah's motivation lies in creating impactful communication channels between the SRC and the student body. Her goals include organizing programs that enhance career development, fostering valuable skills, and promoting health and confidence. She is dedicated to creating awareness about job opportunities and ensuring that every student feels empowered and connected.
